Scholarships in the Netherlands

The Netherlands is not a budget country, and scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. Funding is provided by universities, the state and third-party organizations. Both local and international students can receive a scholarship.



Types of scholarships for foreigners:
Holland Scholarship

Intended for students from countries outside the EEC. Provided by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science in cooperation with Dutch universities.

Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP)

A programme funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Aimed at professionals from certain countries for short courses or master’s programmes.

University-specific Scholarships

Many universities in the Netherlands (University of Amsterdam, Utrecht University, Leiden University, etc.) offer their own scholarships for international students.

Accommodation and adaptation

Adaptation in the Netherlands is rarely difficult. People are friendly and open, the streets are safe and the infrastructure is convenient. If a student does encounter stress during the adaptation period, they can get help from a psychologist at the university.
