Milena dreamed of studying Fashion Design with a clear environmental mission — to learn how to develop sustainable collections that would help reduce the negative impact of the fashion industry on nature.

By the time she started working, Milena had few activities under her belt — participation in a conference on business English and experience as a manager’s assistant in the office work sector. It was a good starting point for developing communication skills, but it was necessary to build her profile specifically around the fields of fashion and ecology.
Environmental mission in focus. The entire strategy was built around the theme of sustainable fashion — a theme that directly reflected Milena’s interests. She took part in the online meeting Better Communication for Sustainability Leaders and in the GRC Social Impact Essay Competition.
Own project. She developed the Eco Voice podcast — about the fashion industry and ecology, which became a key demonstration of her interest in the topic in practice.
Volunteering and engagement. I was a spectator at the VIII Republican Charitable Project “Colored Dreams. Kaleidoscope of the Future” — a musical performance and fashion show by designers from Russia and Belarus for children from boarding schools; I volunteered at the city festival Vulitsa Ezha and participated in a charity event to help animals.
Documents. We wrote an essay for the Common App, prepared 3 recommendation letters, and additional letters for partner universities.
Submission strategy. TOEFL remained below the required level for a long time and only rose to 70 by December, and Milena did not take the SAT — taking this into account, they decided to apply through partner universities, which provided a more predictable and realistic path to admission.
Milena received offers from 2 universities in the USA:
The total scholarship from Fisher College amounted to $50,000, which covers 90% of the tuition cost.
