Student request

Kristina came to us with extensive practical experience in the hospitality industry, but without a clear understanding of which management program to choose. We helped her determine that Hospitality Management is the optimal field, combining her experience and career growth prospects.

Profile analysis

By the time she started working, Kristina already had a strong foundation:

  • Significant professional experience in the hospitality industry
  • Her own business, which she ran even during the language program in Ireland
  • A two‑week course in French pastry with chef Frédéric Andrieu (2021)
  • A two‑week basic pastry course (2021)
  • Participation in a university‑affiliated volunteer organization

A solid practical foundation in the industry required additional academic and leadership development to make Kristina a competitive candidate for the Graduate Assistant position.

Workflow

Leadership and research potential. We focused on developing leadership competencies and enhancing our research profile — this became a key factor in competing for GA positions.

Competitions and startups. Kristina made it into the top 10 of the city culinary competition by Stanfood, reached the semifinals of the university entrepreneurial accelerator with a startup service for food service businesses and farmers, entered the top 15% in terms of the quality of the solution to the MTS case on Changellenge, and also served as Project Manager and Team Lead for the GIBKO startup project.

Academic and research component. Participated in the international scientific conference “Plekhanov Readings 2024” with the publication of an article in the collection, as well as in the 11th international scientific and practical conference “Innovations: Prospects, Problems, Achievements”.

International experience. I completed an internship at a restaurant serving traditional Armenian cuisine in Gelendzhik, and I took part in the Istanbul Youth Summit 2024 and the Harvard Aspire Leader Program.

Exams. Despite having a TOEFL score below 100, Kristina successfully passed the GRE with a score of 316, which further strengthened her academic profile.

Documents. We prepared motivation letters for each university — including those where Kristina applied independently — along with an academic CV and 3 letters of recommendation.

Result

Kristina received 5 offers from universities, including offers for GA positions among the best Hospitality Management programs in the country. She was admitted to The University of Tampa with a scholarship of ≈$70,000.
