Admission to Sociology at 3 US Universities

with a scholarship of $288,000

Student request:

Zoya came to us with basic, yet sincere and “living” experience: working as a nanny for two families, volunteering to help homeless animals, and a keen interest in social issues and observations of society.

Behind this lay a clear motivation — the problems of intercultural interactions that arise due to the spread and persistence of stereotypes, including in the mass media.

Profile analysis:

At the start, Zoe didn’t have any outstanding academic achievements or specialized competitions — only real‑life experience and a genuine interest in the topic. The task was to translate this experience into a meaningful academic profile that the admissions committee would take seriously.

Work process:

Strategy and idea. We built the admission strategy around a strong idea — intercultural communication and stereotypes. We turned personal experience (working with children, volunteering, observation) into meaningful projects and academic interest.

Research work. Zoya became an independent researcher: she collected and analyzed data, wrote a research paper on the impact of media stereotypes on intercultural communication, and presented the results at the school science conference.

Passion project. I launched the Telegram channel “We and They” — about how language, media, and history shape perceptions of “us” and “them,” why stereotypes persist even among educated people, and how cultural bias works. I published more than 25 analytical materials. It was this personal project that became an important part of my profile and a way to stand out among other applicants.

Academic depth. Completed certified courses on social theory, inequality, and research methods on Stepik, as well as a course on professional self‑determination.

Additional activities. Developed a business plan for the school fair — including cost calculations, pricing, and profit projections; implemented sales and analyzed the results. Participated in a school environmental project to clean the beach of plastic.

Documents. We have prepared comprehensive documentation for each university.

Result:

Zoya received offers from three universities in the USA:

  • Elmhurst University — $92,000
  • Pace University — $68,000
  • St. Norbert College — $128,000

The total amount of scholarships is $288,000. Perhaps not everyone has heard of these universities — and that’s normal. There are thousands of universities in the world, and it’s impossible to know them all.

The value of our work lies not in sending a student to the most well‑known university, but in finding a university that truly suits them and offers the best conditions. These universities have strong programs in business and social sciences, small class sizes, and practice‑oriented learning, and their graduates show good employment results.

Zoya is now choosing which university to attend.
