In many English-speaking countries, CIS school graduates cannot enter without a reason. The difficulty lies in the different lengths of school programs: in English-speaking countries, school education lasts 12 years, and in the CIS countries – a year less.
To compensate for the difference, foreign students must either study for 1 year on a bachelor’s degree at a university in their country, or take preparatory programs for studying abroad.
The Foundation Program or pre-bachelors includes:
- Academic preparation: learning the basics of the academic disciplines chosen by the student, with an emphasis on the English language.
- Skills development: improving academic writing, reading, research, presentation and discussion.
Preparation for university: familiarization with the university environment, the educational system, requirements for research and writing papers.
Also, the Foundation program for admission abroad allows the student to familiarize themselves with the curriculum for a future specialty and the university itself, improve their skills, level of English, and adapt to a new country.
